Pat Miller

Pat Miller began conducting in 2003 before going completing a Master of Music at the University of Melbourne studying under John Hopkins. Pat began his professional career in 2005 conducting the National Tour of Bizet’s Carmen for Ozopera. Further training through the Symphony Australia Conductor Development Program through has led Pat to conduct the Tasmanian, Queensland and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras.

In Melbourne Pat has worked with virtually all the community orchestras including very successful engagements with Stonnington Symphony including a broadcast of Berlioz’s l’enfance du Christ in support of the Royal Children’s Hospital Hush Program. Pat works actively in music education including a highly successful partnership with Patma Music Family Concerts. Operatic work includes regular assistant work for Victorian Opera as well as engagements with Melbourne City Opera and Lyric Opera of Melbourne. Internationally, Pat has assisted on productions at the Opera Nationale de Lyon, Opera Nationale de Paris, the BBC Symphony and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. In 2010 Pat has been engaged to assist on further productions at the Opera de Lyon, working under their Music Director, Kazushi Ono.

Pat is particularly passionate about the French repertoire, in particular the music of Hector Berlioz, and maintains a firm commitment to Australian and contemporary repertoire.
