Anne Gilby - oboe![]() Anne Gilby commenced her oboe studies in Canberra. After completing a BA degree at the Australian National University, she studied in Europe with Leon Goossens, Maurice Bourgue and Helmut Winschermann, achieving her Reifeprufung Performance Diploma with Distinction in Detmold. She was awarded the Gabriel Harrison Scholarship from the International Festival of Youth Orchestras and a study/travel scholarship from the Australia Council. She has held the position of Principal Oboist with the Stäschesorchester, Bremerhaven, the Elizabethan Melbourne Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and has been guest Principal with all six Symphony Australia orchestras. She performs as soloist and chamber musician on the modern and early oboes, and has made many concerto appearances, including with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Anne has been Lecturer in Oboe at the Western Australian Conservatorium of Music, Head of Woodwind of the Victorian College of the Arts and is currently Lecturer in the Monash University School of Music-Conservatorium. Anne Chairs the Artistic Committee of the Australian Youth Orchestra Ltd. and is President of the Australasian Double Reed Society. Anne performed Lebrun's Oboe Concerto No.1 in D minor on 23 November 2002.
